A Card sports "scrapbook"

Guys,

I  had some old programs, tix, etc. that I was going to scan in personally, just for myself or for some stories I might write.

But then it struck me that it might be cool to see photos of other people's prized Card sports mementos -- and a brief word or two about why they are so meaningful to that person.  And maybe create a spot to display them on my site,  and use them in stories in the future perhaps.

Everyone has them--and I'm hoping some really old items will appear.  For example, I was surprised recently on one of the  boards when a 70+ yr old suddenly regaled us with his vivid retelling of the really original Dream Game --the 1958 U of L- UK game!  He said he still had stuff from the game.

Do you think this is a worthwhile idea?  Do you guys have some stuff you have that you're willing  to scan and send?

Thanks,

Frank

P.S.   Below is a sample of what I scanned.  This one is from the epic 1975 Final Four clash between Denny and his mentor, John Wooden of UCLA.  This page is from a special publication put out by U of L after the trip.

Can you find Frankpos in the pic?       ; - )

Who do you think will Play

More games for their "former" or "future" team next year?

I think that with all the wierdness surrounding the entirity of U of L Sports at this time that we should have some fun with it.  Feel free to add any others to this list.

The only criteria I used was that there must be a decenct chance that they play exactly zero games this upcoming season and there must be an equal  chance for them to play most all of their team's games in the upcoming seasons.

Poll
Who will play more games in the next year?
  • Brian Brohm - Green Bay Packers
  • Brett Favre - Green Bay Packers
  • Derrick Caracter - Louisville Cardinals
  • David Padgett - Any NBA Team
  • Mario Urrutia - Cincinnati Bengals

Duhn Duhn Duhhhhhhh

And so the plot thickens.  The CJ is reporting good news for the CC's favorite son. None other than Donut Dunkin' Derrick Caracter has wiggled his way back into Rick's good-ish graces and may ultimately be competing with Samardo Samuels for PT on our Final Four contending hoop squad.

I for one am glad DC apparently has weaseled his way back into Pitinoland

Louisville in top 20.....

for Title Town USA -  I'm sure you all saw/read Bozich's article this past Thursday.

http://search.courier-journal.com/sp?aff=1100&skin=100&keywords=Title+Town+Article&x=11&y=16

The 2-3 day coverage on ESPN of Louisville sports this weekend (starting tonight I think) should be fun.  I love the "little brother" dig Bozich gets in.   I doubt Louisville will win but we will, as fans, have a chance to vote for Louisville.  Sounds like fun and  the recognition for our city is awesome.  Wasn't it TJ who came up with the old billboard copy.....Best college sports town in America???  Oh yeah.

Poll: OK,Time to Predict: How Many Wins for FBall?

I would show you the poll taken before last year

but no, we don't want to see that...

Now that our expectations have been adjusted,

lay your money down

how many wins this season in Football?

(Unfortunately I now have to add words because my fan post is too short.  So I'll simply say this is probably an irritant added by TheFake just to piss off Card fans in a passive aggressive manner.  Oh, also I'll add the link to my web site http://hellinthehall.wordpress.com/  )

Poll
How many wins this season for Card Football?
  • 8 or greater
  • 7
  • 6
  • 5
  • 2-4
  • Ron Cooper reborn!

Attention PS3 gamers

I received the following email yesterday and thought I'd pass it along to those of you cool enough to own a PS3 (damnit).

Dear Mike,

On July 15th, Guinness World Gaming Record Holder and BushLeague.tv writer/producer Jim Patton will be playing EA's NCAA Football 09 for 24 consecutive hours as his alma mater, The University of Alabama.  The entire 24 hour event will be broadcast live on BushLeague.tv and we're looking for challengers to step up to the plate and represent their college of choice against our resident video game nerd.  This event would be a great chance for cross promotion and good way to create a friendly rivalry between our sites that could carry on throughout the college football season.  We will have time slots availabe for both online challengers (PS3 only) and face to face competitions (in Los Angeles), but we will be filling those spots on a first come first serve basis and each team can only be represented once, so make sure you jump on one early.

If you think you're up to the task, shoot the man an email ASAP.
